Feelings in the beginning(Yap)

Having been here for nearly one month,I has got used to the climate and routine of life here. However, after two weeks' studying,it suddenly dawns on me that my foundation of English is so poor compared to my several roommates. So excellent is their prounciation as well as the writing skills.Maybe that's the gap of teaching levels between rural areas and big cities.
But now we're at the same starting line, sharing the same studying resouces and teachers of the same teaching level .The only disadvantage I have is that my starting speed is lower. In order to catch up with them in English,I practise my prounciation every day and try my best to broaden my vocabulary .On occasion,I review my vocabulary and use them in my writing.
The scene I wrote my first journal here still remains fresh in my mind.Since I haven't written a 300-400-word composition before,I even didn't know how to organise my writing. The first draft was so owful that a mood of despondency caputured my heart. But thanks to the help of my roommate,I finished my second and third drafts much better.I am very grateful to my roommates. They have helped me to get through the most difficult starting period.
Now that I have come here,I have made up my mind to forge my success in study. But first of all,I have to aquire the competence of using English freely.English is a significant studying tool especially in this multi-cultural environment.I was a loser of the National College Entrance Examination last year, but won't be of my life in NUS.
