We Can Run!
The wind blows my hair and beads of sweat stand on my face. When I am jogging, I enjoy the rhythm and relaxation of it. And when joining a group of running lovers, I am mesmerized by jogging more. The firm belief in our minds which encourages us to carry on all along is that we can run!
It was dark outside in the early morning, when most of roommates were still dreaming on the bed. I grabbed my T-shirt by my side in the dark. After a quick wash, I rushed my breakfast just in time for our warm-up before setting off. Standing in a circle on an open field, we running-lovers from different universities do warm-ups following our senior, Gary. After stretches and push-ups, everyone seemed to be dragged out of their dreams and be refreshed.
As Gary blurted out an order ’Run!’ , our running journey began. There were 12 runners in our group totally and we ran in pairs. Starting from Eton Hall, we jogged along the main roads. Without many vehicles, the streets seemed quiet and fascinating in the early morning. During our jogging, we talked and laughed happily. Our topics ranged from hometowns in our motherland to our school lives in Singapore. Everyone took an active part in the conversation and soon we knew well each other. The sweat burst through the skins of our foreheads and trickles of sweat formed and rolled down our backs. As time went, we were all tired. So we clapped and shouted ’Come on! Come on!’ to encourage each other.
At last, when we finished our running journey, greatly to our surprise, we managed to cover 12 kilometers in one hour or so. So each of us cheered on our victory crazily at the destination. And there was a broad smile on everyone’s face.
We enjoy our running in the group and we are very proud that we can run!
