The Psychometric Test We Took Today ( M.L.)

Today we took an psychometric test in on our character traits. The test was given by a psychologist who is doing voluntary work in Nanyang Technology University. Before the test, we were given a lecture on how important it is to discover the character traits of both ourselves and people around us. The lecturer gave examples on how recognizing others' characters led to successful communication and how realizing one's own character led to better chances of fully developing one's potential.
Then we took the test, following the lecturer's instruction that we should not think too much before we gave the answers and just answer by our first instinct. After I finished the single-choice questions, I traced the spots of my answers to the questions on a well-designed graph and joined them with a smooth curve, and here the sketch of my character came. I compared the drawing with dozens of drawings given below and found the most similar one in shape with mine. The illustrations beside the drawing read:"You are a contemplator, a processor , you are the one who ponders." Actually I was not surprised, because I have known all the way that I am a person who likes to be quiet, reading or thinking.
Before my mind could wander, the psychologist continued on the lecture. He gave the features of different character traits one by one. I learnt that compared to others, my strengths were abilities on analyzing and critical thinking, and the features I am proud of my character traits are steadiness and reliance. Personally I think it match my character, because I highly emphasis the quality of responsibility and I have always tried to live up to it. On the other hand, the weakness of my character is setting standards too high for myself and others, which often leads to disapprovement or disappointment. This is true for me and I want to change about it. I also learnt some famous people of this character, such as Alfred B.Nobel and Aristotle, who I admire very much.
I can't say whether I like my character or not, because I have to accept myself just as who I am. What I will do is to maintain my strengths and change my weakness into better features. I also got better understanding of others' characters and ways of behaving, and it will help me communicating with people of different characters more efficiently.

  1. Yes, I think the results fit your character traits. I like the way you see things positively regarding your 'weakness'.
