NUS OPEN HOUSE(Jega)

This weekend, NUS held an open house for the students who will go to college this July to help them to know more about NUS and its majors. For us sm3 students, open house works too. I enjoy the two days in open house and know more about what my college life will be.
Open house was held in Sports and Recreation Center, a place I seldom noticed in the past. On Saturday, after getting off the bus, I followed the crowd to the center. On the first floor, I found there were many halls displaying their hall life in a very big hall. There are not many people exclude the missionaries. We luckily became their first “customers”. Oh, sorry. I forgot to say that I went with Jiayue and of course on the way we met a lot of other sm3 students from Eton Hall. The staffs were all very enthusiastic. They introduced their halls to us and gave us small presents. We did know that we can’t choose where to stay, but we were touched by their enthusiasm and felt that all the halls were so good by their descriptions. I like their speech and perhaps we can be one of them in next year. Which hall will I live? Perhaps one of them, and perhaps not. It will be so good if I can decide where to live and I hope so. Besides displays of halls, there were also people from many clubs attracting new members. I think it was too early to do so as the students they were advertising to are not in NUS yet, but it may work for Singaporean students. Who knows?
The tour in this hall ended in no time. After that, we went to another hall for admissions, not very meaningful to us. Jiayue and I listened it more for the reason that we wanted to find a place to rest and cool down. We mainly ate our sweets given by the staffs of Reffles Hall. We leave the hall in the middle of the lecture which I knew was not polite. Then we went to the second level and consulted about the majors we can choose. The first day turned out not quite a fruitful day for I didn’t make up my mind to learn some major, but indeed I knew more about them and wanted to come again the next day. I did so. I went this morning again but not with Jiayue. I went to Level One and this time I didn’t listen much to introduction to halls. Instead, I went into the lecture hall and listened to the same admission lecture, which seemed not that boring. Later, I went to Level Two to consult more. Fortunately, I met two Chinese seniors. One of them is even from the same province as I and he is sm2.5. The other is sm2 two years ago. It was nice talking to them. I was then more knowledged and not as confused. I also met Doctor Chua and he wanted me to study science and gave me more advice. I felt learning science was not as boring as I thought. I find mathematics is OK to me if I failed in applying for other majors. What should I learn? I still can’t fully decide but more or less fixed. I will ask for my parents advice and also consider my grades in college entrance exam. The failure of the exam seems to have further affects on me other than the ones I experienced before. But there is no excuse, because it’s my mistake.
The future is still in my hand. I will make my decision after I am prepared. Perhaps I can learn more in the open house next Saturday. Then I will have more ideas.
