Why clap and why dance? If somebody asked me these questions before,I would probably tell them that we clap because we should respect and inspire the ones who give speeches or perform something and we dance because we want to make acquaintance with other people or for any other sociality purpose. However, after the concert I attended last Sunday,I got new understanding about clap and dance.
It was rainy at that day and when I got to the Victoria Concert Hall,my shoes and socks had become wet---you can imagine how awful I felt. The concert was performed by Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra. The first one hour,it was Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D,which is so soft and romantic that I felt very comfortable and then, fell asleep. It's shameful to mention this, anyway. What was more,it made me forget my wet shoes and socks. But apart from these,I can't say more about it,because I know little about music and don't know how to appreciate it.
What made me feel really exicted about music and force me to write this article is the second part of the concert,Symphony No.3 from Brahms and Polovtsian Dances from Borodin. If Violin Concerto in D is mild wind, then these two must be storms. How enthusiastic the music was! Following the rythems,I just felt that I could not sit still any more. There was a sound in my mind and told me:"Dance, just dance with the worderful music." The music lighted the fire in my heart. When it came to the end,I just could not stop clapping, not for respect and inspire and gentle,I just could not stop. How high I was at that time!
So my new understanding about clap and dance is that we do so becauce of the strong emotion we have, and we just can't control ourselves not to express it. Next time, when you see somebody can't stop clapping and dancing, please do not take them as crazy men with problem in brain!

I felt empathy when you mentioned that you fell asleep in the concert. Dull to music as well, I just feel like sleeping when I attend a concert.
ReplyDeleteAnd I recommend that you have a go on the piece called "The Flight of the Bumble Bee", which, in my opinion, can be compared to a storm. You can feel your nerve evoked and your blood speeding.
In addition, I ever experienced the feeling you describe in your passege, too. Out of excitement, we unconsciously clap and wave as we enjoy enthusiastic music or art workds.
Hi Xiadong Music is a wonderful magic. I does a lot of things to people. It can motivate, encourage, perk up, evoke emotions of happiness, like in your case - you just want to dance - or make you fall asleep. Children are the best models of how music affect emotions. They can feel the rhythm - fast they 'shake' fast, slow - slow. I know 'Flight of the Bumble Bee' - listen to it. You can feel and 'see' the bees.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy music and dancing. They lighten your burdens: Sing your way home at the end of the day. sing your way home it will brighten your way.
