Openhouse(ML)

NUS held the openhouse on this Saturday. Openhouse is to introduce the majors and the campus life to the students who just pass the A level exam. I went to openhouse with my friends as well.
Openhouse started at 9am and we got there at 9:40. There was a board at the entrance of the openhouse. It wrote the time arrangement of the talks. I noticed that the talk that I wanted to listen to started at 11am, so we looked around. Firstly, we entered the room which is to show the life on campus. There were many counters. Some of them were about the dormitory and the others are about the activities and clubs in school. What surprised me was they gave out a lot of things. I got a shower cream when I passed by the King Edward VII and some of friends got a package of make-ups or magazines. Everybody seemed very happy. Then, we went upstairs to Hall 3. It was about the majors and there were a lot of professors. I went to the section of Engineering to ask something about chemical. But there was a professor of Engineering Science gave us a little lecture. In fact he talked about 15 minutes long. Although I felt a little bored, I could feel his enthusiasm about his subject and I became interested in it as well. When I came to the section of Computing, I happened to the professor who interviewed me in China. I talked to him for a while and asked something about computing because I almost decided to make computing as my major. And time was going to 11. Thus, I went to listen to the talk. However, I thought the talk was not of much use to help you understand the major. The speaker just mentioned how important and useful the subject was.
On the whole, the openhouse didn’t help me make the decision of choosing major easier, but the talk with the professors let me see that the enthusiasm and interest can help me make the best choice.

  1. Maybe you could use Joyce's guidelines on how to choose a major.
