How time flies. So far I have been in Singapore for about 100 days and I have finished my phase one in the bridging course. Maybe it is time for me to review what I have learnt in my bridging course.
There is no need to say that I learnt something on English such as vocabulary and some strategies of reading and writing. Beside such things, however, I learnt something else.
I still remember that the first day I went into the classroom each of my classmates and I had a presentation. When I stood up to introduce myself to others I was too nervous to say all the things that I wanted to say. So I just told my name and home school to others and then sit down with my trembling hands and legs. But after the phase one I become less nervous to show myself in front of others in that during the phase I had given five oral report, one story telling and one oral presentation in front of my classmates which gave us more chances to practice speak in public. Furthermore the tutors taught us how to perform when I am speaking in public so that I know where to put my hands, how to use gestures and how to involve the audience by proper eye contact.
Furthermore I also learn so good characteristic from my tutors and my friends. I learnt kind smiles can make you more acceptable to others. I learnt how to be lively to give others funny. I learnt how to involve the information you know into you conversation to make the conversation more lively. I learnt when studying I should be more scrupulous. I learnt how to treat you friends so that you friends will like you.
There are many other things that have not been mentioned above. I think it is a really meaningful phase and I am sure that all of my classmates also achieve a lot in the phase.

It is quite abashed for me to say that I achieved so little in phase 1 that I felt sorry for myself. My vocabulary, which was supposed to enlarge a lot, seemed to remain as it was before the intensive English course.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is rather frustrating to find that you made no progress even if you worked a lot, which should have brought you some improvement.
When it comes to the tutors, I think they are not only teaching us knowledge of English language, but also helping us with our growth. We are yet not mature enough to cope with our depression and frustration, while their guide can for sure do us a favor.
Hope that we can improve a lot after the intensive course!
