Understand You (YSM)

On Friday, I read an article on xiaonei. It is a moving story, which caused me to think of many things. Now I want to share the story with you.

The brief content of the story is like the following:

It was the day when the author got married. At the marriage ceremony, she saw two old people dressed in miserable rags and tatters. At first she just regarded them as beggars who wanted to ask for some food, then her husband came and flattered that they were his uncle and aunt. She was surprised, because her only knew her husband was an orphan, she never knew he had relatives. She hurriedly said: “Since they are your relatives, why not let them sit at a better place, not that far away.” “No, no, they will be uncomfortable sitting elsewhere.” After the wedding ceremony, she never saw her husband’s aunt and uncle. However, every Spring Festival, her husband was always in low spirit. She knew that he was missing his parents.

One day, when she was on a business trip, she wanted to play a joke on her husband. So she chatted to her husband online with a strange identity named “Understand You”.

“May I have a talk with you?”

Mom said’ They said eating eggs is good for the development of children’s intelligence, if they eat eggs, my boy would too, and become clever than them.’ But they never ate eggs themselves. They worked without recognition of day and night, they husked corns for others until both hands were covered with bleeding blisters and callosities. Later, I was admitted by a famous university with the rank No.1 in our village. They were extremely happy about it. However, before I left home, they said to me’ After you left home, never came back. Look for a good wife in city. If others ask you about your parents, you just tell them you are an orphan.’ They gave me a full basket of eggs and waved goodbye to me. Though I missed them, I knew my dad’s temper, if he had said so, it can’t be another, so I really didn’t go back home until graduated. I found a good job, and a beautiful girlfriend. When I thought it was the right time to introduce her to my parents, I took her home. To my surprise, she left at once without a word. Dad was angry for my taking her home; he said no girls wanted to marry in such a family. He ordered me never told girls about them. I cried, but had to nod. Then I had a second girlfriend, she is my wife now. She was born in a wealthy family; she is so good a girl that I didn’t want to lose her. I didn’t tell her about my family, and I feel sorry for cheating her and also for my parents…”

She silently listened to his story, unknowingly cried like a child. She didn’t blame him, on the contrary, she found she love him more and more and more. She put down her work, and asked for leave, then rushed to the village through thick and thin. The mountain roads were difficult to walk on for such a girl grown up in a favorable condition. As she walked, her feed hurt a lot, she wanted to cry, but thought of the bitter days her husband had experienced, she had courage again to go on. Finally, she found their house. The “aunt and uncle” were busily husking corns. She kneeled and cried out “Dad, mom, I’m here to pick up you home!” The old couple burst into tears, they were gratified that their son really got a good wife.

When she came back home, her husband was shocked to see his parents. She said to him: “See, you look down you wife before, I just want to tell you, your parents are my parents. I really really understand you, right?”

After reading it, I think of so many things my dear parents have done for me; I think of the meaning of true love; I think of the pain poor children are suffering; I think of how difficult it is to develop one’s career from nothing…
