We Are All Animals 4. Will Is the Way (YAP 20)

Waiting for the school bus on the narrow footpath, there were about sixty Sm3 students. Most of us had nothing to do but to gossip all the time. This was quite boring time, and the tropical heat wave in the morning aggravated the situation.

Then there came a group of dogs who did go walking with their masters every morning except the rainy days. Watching the dogs went by was a much funnier thing to do than our mindless gossiping. So our sixty pairs of eyes were focusing on the dogs, expecting something magical would be done by the dogs, thus help us kill time.

The dogs went their way in a slow sequence. They never took a glance at us, but one of them had got the idea in our minds. He walked out of their group and refused to go back when his master pulled him through the rope. This really lighted the fire of curiosity in us all. What he wanted to do? Immediately, he gave us the answer: he wanted to go a different way, he wanted to pass through us people, and he wanted to be like a general and regarded us as his soldiers. At that time, we were preparing for parade and he was ready to be saluted. As he went by, all of us gave his way automatically, voluntarily and politely.

I really adored the dog very much. He was so firm in his will and made his way directly. Think about it, why would we give him way so naturally? I think it just because we see the determination in his mind through his steady footsteps. But we humans often do things with a lot of hesitation, which sometimes brings us a mass of hardships. And we are kind of lack of will. Maybe this dog was born to teach us the already known but seldom done proverb: where there is a will, there is a way.

  1. Hi Jindun, another very nice sentence: "we were preparing for parade and he was ready to be saluted.". It is so vivid. I believe you like animals a lot. Dogs are wonderful creatures. They can be trained to be companions to the visually handicapped, guardians of homes, of children and also used in the police force. They are also faithful. You can leave them alone the whole day, and when you come home, they will come running to you, to greet you and if allowed, it will lick you. I like SMALL dogs.

  2. Ha Ha,it is very funny! Although I was not there that day,I can imagine the funny scene. The dog may be taken as treasure by its master at home. If I were there that day, maybe I were the first one to give way,not because I respect it,just because I always be afaid of dogs. I think hesitation is not always wrong. In many cases,we should be more critical and think twice before act,and we should be good at hear others' advices. Of course,we must make decisiona by ourselves at last.
